In 1977 Gunnels was 15 years old and a known “companion” of Christopher Busch and Gregory Green. He would be better described as a “victim” of Busch and Green as he was sexually assaulted by both men.
In the early 00’s, a hair from Gunnels was matched via mitochondrial DNA to a hair found on the body of 10 year old Kristine Mihelich, the third confirmed victim of the Oakland County Child Killer.
Gunnels failed a polygraph regarding Mihelich’s murder. He also sat down with the family of Timothy King (fourth confirmed victim) but provided no clarity as to how his hair was on Kristine’s body.
He is now listed as absconded as of dec. 2019.
